Atlanta Plastic Surgeon Provides Guide for Nonsurgical and Surgical Facelift Procedures

Dr. Thomas Lintner outlines the ideal candidate for facelifts, BOTOX® Cosmetic, and dermal fillers
Atlanta, GA – Dr. Thomas B. Lintner, an Atlanta plastic surgeon, prides himself on providing personalized attention to each of his patients. At Advanced Aesthetic Surgery, his private practice, he offers patients both surgical and nonsurgical methods of facial rejuvenation to meet each individual’s cosmetic goals.
According to Dr. Lintner, when patients reach their mid to late 40s, the face commonly becomes lax and jowls start to form. He says: “By the time the mid 50s roll around, patients come in, pull upward on their cheeks, and say ‘what can we do about this?’”
Dr. Lintner highlights that people who generally maintain good health but are displeased with facial wrinkles or the position of their cheeks are ideal facelift candidates. He also notes that patients with appreciable jowling of the chin or significant nasolabial folds may also be good candidates for the procedure, as these conditions can occur naturally with age or as a result of dramatic weight loss.
If a patient is debating between facelift surgery and injectables such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or dermal fillers, Dr. Lintner recommends patients take their age into account. He says while fillers and BOTOX® Cosmetic work well for patients between the ages of 30 and 50 – and sometimes even longer, depending on how an individual ages – those methods of facial rejuvenation are not able to accomplish the results many patients over the age of 60 desire. However, Dr. Lintner reminds patients that each case needs to be looked at individually for variants such as:

Dr. Lintner says recovery from a facial procedure is unlike any other surgery, and most patients take about 2-4 weeks out of the public eye, depending on if they have had additional procedures such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery. He tells his Atlanta plastic surgery patients that the body typically takes about 6-8 weeks to fully recover, which is when they will see the full range of benefits provided by their facial rejuvenation procedure.
